“Live now, believe me, wait not till tomorrow; Gather the roses of life today.”
Pierre de Ronsard
Eleven years ago I set out to find the perfect inn for
a romantic weekend in Vermont. During my research I ca me across a very
unique ad for The Village Country Inn in Manchester Village, Vermont and the
rest as they say was history….Since that time we’ve made a stay at this
wonderful inn a must on our calendar to celebrate Valentine’s Day, special
birthdays or wedding anniversaries in our family.
After one visit, you’re
hooked! Why? Not only is the atmosphere stunning and comfortable but the
attention to detail is amazing. The driving force behind this angelic inn
is Lizanne and Jay Degen. Two of the most talented, creative and thoughtful
innkeepers you’ll ever meet.
The couple has managed to combine their special gifts to attract a wonderful, caring staff to execute their
inspiring vision on a daily basis. As a guest you feel important and cared
for without anyone ever being intrusive or on top of you.
Mary at reception will not only do a great job
confirming your reservations but will remember your likes and dislikes with
dinner reservations and make sure you have your usual preferred time and
table for two facing the beautiful, hypnotic fireplace at Angel’s. Although
Manchester has a wide variety of fantastic dining experiences, no need to
venture out.

You’re always guaranteed an excellent meal with prompt and
friendly service at Angel’s. Tim, our server, picked-up on our special
low-carb diet and made the best suggestions for the most delicious options.
Scallops Nantucket prepared with Vermont’s own Grafton Cheese was
outstanding! Also cannot forget to mention the Pecan Encrusted Lamb
Chops, the largest not to mention the most superb I’ve ever had.
This headquarters for romance has quite a few
attractive packages throughout the year to help celebrate a special
birthday, wedding anniversary or just to say “I Love You” kind of getaway.
If you’re a hopeless romantic, Cupid’s got you covered here. Call us on
