My first trip to Italy did not include Venice. Fortunately,
years later, I was able to return and discovered the unique jewel I had missed the first
time around.
Venice, sometimes compared with a city in
China called Suzhou, has the charm, grace and sophistication this Venice of the East
lacks.
When I arrived at the Luna Baglioni, I flung
open the huge double windows of my exquisite room overlooking the Grand Canal and let in
the glorious music and lovely sights and immediately found a home! I felt a zest
here that was somewhat indescribable. It took my breath away.

A gondola ride down the Grand Canal should be on the must do list
for anyone who has a passion for travel.
The sunlight glistening on the water has a certain ethereal
quality and makes for an unforgettable afternoon.
Since 1980 people have come from all over the world
to celebrate Carnival in Venice. Private and public masked balls are held in the campi
(any open space in the city) and music, dancing and the like are seen and enjoyed by
all.
Theatrical performances and ancient games are arranged for
natives and visitors. There are many ways to visit this magical city, namely by
organized tour, cruise or independent arrangements.
Cruising was personally a special way for me. I shall never
forget the magnificent sight of beautiful amber lights illuminating the city and
glistening on the water of the Grand Canal as we departed from Venice in the evening. |
